The United States expresses regret over the continuing aggressive rhetoric by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, said a spokesperson of the State Department on Monday.
The spokesperson was responding to a question by Greek Star TV on the statements and the recent meeting in Brussels between the diplomatic advisors and close associates of Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis (Anna-Maria Boura) and of Erdogan (Ibrahim Kalin).
At a time when unity is more needed between our allies, provocative rhetoric and threats raise tension and help nobody, the spokesperson said, adding that the US welcomes such meetings as that between Boura and Kalin. “We encourage these talks at all levels,” the spokesperson underlined.
