The Hempstead Sons of Pericles Chapter supported the breast cancer awareness drive on Long Island on October 18.

Members of the Sons of Pericles Lord Byron Chapter #233 in Hempstead, NY attended a breast cancer awareness drive on October 18. The event, Making Strides of Long Island, took place at Jones Beach State Park and consisted of an in-car experience. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the organization was unable to perform its normal walk. However, this did not stop them from providing their supporters with an event that would spread awareness for the cause, as well as raise money in order to fight the deadly disease.

The drive was relatively short but provided people with the ability to show their support for something that they care about. There were many signs and other decorations that were displayed, but the one that held the most significance was the tribute garden that displayed pink pinwheels in the sand. The chapter was proud to attend and show their support for such an important cause.

The officers for 2020-2021 are President Georgios Cosmas, Vice President Constantinos Athanailos, Secretary Peter Athanailos, Assistant Secretary Dimosthenis Theofilaktidis, and Treasurer Lucas Demas. The Board of Governors includes Chairman Panagiotis Petrochilos and Constantine Yeostros. The chapter looks forward to a successful year.
