It’s an honor in itself to meet Olympic Gold Medalist Voula Patoulidou who’s also Vice Governor of the Metropolitan Area of Thessaloniki & President of Thessaloniki Tourism Organization. For the past five years I have traveled extensively in Greece especially in Macedonia and Thrace with trips arranged by Sofia Bournatzi of Pass Partout Marketing.
Over 40 articles I have authored on Greece have appeared in a variety of publications including my travel column in the Hellenic News of America and my web site, Travel with Pen and Palate.
I am currently not quite half way through a two-month series of press trips arranged for me by both Pass Partout and the MTC Group. On September 1 while in Thessaloniki I was initially led to believe I was making a customary courtesy call on the offices of the Thessaloniki Tourism Organization arranged by Sofia.
Yet much to my surprise, when Mrs. Patoulidou arrived the visit was an award presentation to honor me for my many articles on a city and a nation I admire so much. Needless to say I was thrilled and humbled by the honor and proud that so many of my Greek articles are published in the Hellenic News of America especially since Thessaloniki is Paul Kotrotsios hometown.
Thank you Thessaloniki Tourism Organization and Greece for honoring an American journalist and the Hellenic News of America for providing the quality platform for me to express my genuine admiration for all things Greek!
