The Fire Brigade’s operations to contain the last two fire fronts in Leptokarya and Kotronia, Evros region, continue on Tuesday. The firefighting forces have been strengthened while the wind velocity is low in the area.
According to the chief forester of Soufli Yanna Diagaki, the efforts of the firefighting forces are focused on the large fire front at Kotronia while creation of fire zones with work machinery continue.
A total of 100 fire engines with 475 member-crew, 16 teams of firefighters on foot, six firefighting aircraft and four water dropping helicopters are operating in the area.
