In honor of the 50th anniversary of the restoration of Democracy, the gardens of the Presidential Mansion will be open to the public from 10 AM to 10 PM, on Sunday.
At 11:00 AM, there will be a presentation of 60 artworks by renowned cartoonists who captured, through their pens in newspapers of the time, the first year of Metapolitefsi (transition to Democracy) from July 1974 to August 1975.
From 11:30 AM onwards, the Athens Municipality Philharmonic Orchestra, the MUSICA choir of the Megaron Concert Hall, the Camerata Junior Orchestra of the Friends of Music, the String Quartet of the Athens Conservatoire and bands of the Armed Forces will perform works by Greek composers such as Theodorakis, Hadjidakis, Markopoulos, Plessas, Savvopoulos, Xarchakos and Tokas. These compositions, which expressed opposition to the dictatorship and became symbols of free expression and spiritual uplift during the Metapolitefsi, will be featured.
The events will be attended by President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou.
