The preschool to 6th grades of the Holy Trinity Cathedral performed Greek, English, and international carols to an audience of parents and friends on Monday evening, December 18th at the church. Rev Archimandrite Chrysostomos Gilbert is Archdiocesan Cathedral Dean.

The Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity, at 319–337 East 74th Street on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City, serves as the national cathedral of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, and the episcopal seat of Archbishop Elpidophoros of America. Mrs. Merope Kyriacou is the Principal. The music Director is Theodore Alvanos, assisted by the school staff.

The Cathedral School Choir performed on Friday, December 3, at the legendary Radio City Music Hall as the opening act for the Christmas Spectacular Starring the Radio City Rockettes.

“A church that has a school will never be extinguished,” said Archbishop Elpidophoros at a previous Greek education conference. “I am promoting the concept that every church must form a school, even if it is only a kindergarten or first grade… The Cathedral School in New York City was in danger of closing. We saved it…Under my watch as Archbishop we will build and expand, in the wealthy country of America.” His Eminence and Cathedral staff achieved his goal in an amazing December 19th Christmas program. Thanks for reading Hellenic News of America

“While the Cathedral School was originally established to serve Greek families, it has evolved into an educational institution that embraces diversity. Today, only half of the student population consists of second, third, and even fourth-generation Greek Americans. This diversity reflects the school’s broader mission of promoting Hellenism as a model that nurtures creativity and academic excellence among its graduates…. Equipped with a strong academic foundation and a deep appreciation for Hellenism, graduates of the Cathedral School carry with them more than just books—they carry the values and cultural heritage that will guide them throughout their lives.”1
