Dr. Antonios P. Gasparis to Be Honored with Hippocratic Award at 33rd Annual Hermes Expo Gala

Philadelphia, PA – April 20, 2024 – The Hermes Expo proudly announces that Dr. Antonios P. Gasparis, MD, FACS, will be honored with the Hippocratic award at the upcoming 33rd Annual Hermes Expo Awards Gala. The event is set to take place on June 19th at the Grand Marquis in Old Bridge, New Jersey.

Dr. Antonios P. Gasparis was born on October 30, 1970, in Bronx, New York. He earned his undergraduate degree from New York University in 1992, majoring in Classical Civilization of Greece and Rome. He then pursued his medical education at SUNY HSC at Syracuse, graduating in 1996. Following this, he completed his residency in General Surgery at SUNY Syracuse in 2000. Dr. Gasparis furthered his training with a Vascular Surgery fellowship at SUNY Stony Brook from 2001 to 2003, followed by an Endovascular fellowship in 2003 at Texas Tech.

Throughout his professional career, Dr. Gasparis has demonstrated exceptional leadership and expertise in the field of vascular surgery. He served as an Attending Vascular Surgeon at Stony Brook University Medical Center from 2003 to 2023. During this time, he established the Stony Brook Vein Center in 2003, which became a leading venous center providing comprehensive venous care. In 2014, he inaugurated the first Office-based lab for Stony Brook Medicine, further enhancing the institution’s capabilities in vascular care.

Dr. Gasparis held various administrative roles at Stony Brook Medicine, including Medical Director for the Vascular Lab, Co-director of the Wound Center, and Director of the DVT Team. He also served as an assistant Chief Medical Officer for over 15 years. In 2023, he was recruited by Northwell Health as System Chief for Venous Disease, where he continues to contribute to the advancement of vascular care in the New York Metro area.

Beyond his clinical and administrative responsibilities, Dr. Gasparis has been actively involved in international societies and organizations. He served as President of the American Venous Forum and President of the Hellenic Medical Society. He has also been a consultant for startup companies in venous therapeutics and has contributed to leading medical device companies in the venous space.

Dr. Gasparis’s research interests focus on superficial and deep venous disease, including the diagnosis and treatment of deep venous thrombosis, chronic venous obstruction, varicose veins, and pelvic congestion syndrome. He has published over 85 papers, presented over 30 abstracts, and delivered over 200 lectures nationally and internationally.

In recognition of his outstanding contributions to the medical field and his leadership in vascular surgery, Dr. Antonios P. Gasparis will be honored at the 33rd Annual Hermes Expo Awards Gala with a prestigious award.
