Philadelphia, PA – April 20, 2024 – The Hermes Expo proudly announces that Robert A. Buhler, President and Chief Executive Officer of Open Pantry Food Marts of Wisconsin, Inc., will be bestowed with the esteemed Philotimo Award at the 33rd Annual Hermes Expo Awards Gala. The event is scheduled to take place on June 19th at the Grand Marquis in Old Bridge, New Jersey.
Born and raised in Racine, WI, Robert A. Buhler earned his B.S. and MBA degrees from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Following 19 years in Investment Banking with CIBC and ABN AMRO, Robert took the helm of Open Pantry Food Marts of WI, Inc., a convenience store company founded by his father, in 1997. He currently serves as President and CEO, alongside managing E&K Land, LLC, a real estate investment holding company.
Robert is deeply committed to the Greek Orthodox Church, college education, and research for the cure of Multiple Sclerosis. For nearly three decades, he has served on the Parish Councils of Chicagoland Greek Orthodox churches, notably St. Haralambos and the Ascension of Our Lord. Notably, Robert played a pivotal role in the construction of a new Ascension church building, serving as Chairman of the Capital Campaign Committee and the Construction Committee. He is also a member of Leadership 100 and an Archon.
Since October of 2015, Robert has chaired the PanHellenic Scholarship Foundation, a national foundation providing 40 scholarships and educational programs annually to Greek American college students who excel academically and embody Hellenic values. He served on the Stanford University Parent Advisory Board from 2007-2012, including as Co-Chair. Additionally, as a Trustee of the Wisconsin Chapter of the National Multiple Sclerosis Society since 2002, Robert has sponsored MS Walks for 20 consecutive years.
An active member of the Young President’s Organization of the Chicago Club and a Governor of The Other Other Club of Madison, Robert’s family background reflects his commitment to excellence. His wife and daughter are attorneys, while his son is a venture capitalist.
