Energy collaborations and developments in the Western Balkans and Eastern Mediterranean were discussed in the meeting of Greek Foreign Affairs Minister Nikos Dendias with his Serbian counterpart Nikola Selaković in Belgrade on Friday.

According to Greek diplomatic sources, Dendias underlined the significance of Greek investments in Serbia, which have created some 25,000 jobs there.

In terms of energy, Serbia’s future connection to the TAP and IGB pipelines was also emphasized, as was the importance of the FSRU station in the port city of Alexandroupolis in northern Greece, sources noted.

In their discussion about the Western Balkans, Dendias reiterated that the European accession prospects of these countries “is a one-way street for the region’s security and stability.”

The Greek minister did also highlight concerns about the influence of revisionist forces, which, by exploiting historical, economic and religious ties, try to penetrate the region, it was added.
