State budget tax revenue grew by 9.4% or 3.4 billion euros in the January-August period, totaling 39.911 billion, official figures showed on Monday.
More specifically, according to state budget execution figures, in an amended cash basis, the state budget showed a deficit of 103 million euros in the 8-month period, down from a budget target for a deficit of 2.426 billion and a shortfall of 4.105 billion in the same period last year. The primary result showed a surplus of 5.585 billion euros, from a target for a surplus of 2.314 billion and a primary surplus of 19 million euros in the same period in 2022.
Net revenue was 43.105 billion euros, up 0.1% from targets, with tax revenue up 9.4% to 39.911 billion euros. Tax return was 4.517 billion euros, up 772 million from targets and Public Investment Program revenue was 2.350 billion euros, down 990 million from targets.
Budget spending totaled 43.207 billion euros in the January-August period, down 2.276 billion from targets and down 130 million from the same period last year. Regular budget spending was down 1.487 billion from targets. Public Investment Program spending was 5.842 billion euros, down 789 million from targets.
In August, net revenue was 5.956 billion euros, up 585 million from monthly targets. Tax revenue was 6.243 billion, up 23.1% from targets, tax return was 571 million euros (up 136 million from targets) and Public Investment Program revenue was 79 million euros (down 456 million from targets).
