PSEKA applauds the announcement by Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo that the United States is lifting its Arms Embargo for non-lethal weapons on the Republic of Cyprus.
We congratulate Secretary Pompeo and the State Department for not allowing the dangerous aggressions by Turkey against Cyprus and Greece to delay this just action!
We also congratulate Senator Bob Menendez and all other key Senators and Members of the House for their essential contributions to today’s action through the enactment of the Eastern Mediterranean Security and Energy Partnership Act of 2019.
We express gratitude to all organizations who supported this action during the past two years, AHEPA, AHI, HALC, AJC and the coordinated effort in Washington, DC. We hope today’s announcement is the beginning of a new era recognizing that the only true, reliable allies of the United States in the region are Israel, Greece and Cyprus. These western Democracies will help to secure American interests in the critical eastern Mediterranean region.
