Shipping and Island Policy Minister Miltiadis Varvitsiotis visited the port of Piraeus on Thursday and was briefed about the prevailing situation in the country’s largest port in view of the summer season.

“Today I came to monitor the situation in the country’s largest port. One and a half million people travelled last year from the port of Piraeus,” he said, adding that the same figures are also expected this year.

Varvitsiotis added that the goal is to provide the best possible services to these people, with safety and security so that they can enjoy their summer vacations but also be able to do their work with speed and efficiency.

“We will work hard to make this travel experience for these people an enjoyable one with safety and security,” the shipping minister underlined.
