(Philadelphia, PA) Grayson H. Wheatley, III, MD, FACS, Associate Professor of Surgery at Temple University School of Medicine, and Director of Aortic and Endovascular Surgery at Temple University Hospital, is serving as Conference Chairman for the International Society of Endovascular Specialists’ Mid-Atlantic Aortic Symposium on Saturday, September 27, in Philadelphia.  The Symposium is being held from 8am-5pm at the Philadelphia Marriott Downtown.

Larry R. Kaiser, MD, FACS, Dean of Temple University School of Medicine, and President and CEO of Temple University Health System, will be a featured presenter at the event.  Dr. Kaiser is an internationally renowned academic executive, thoracic surgeon, researcher and author, who will make a presentation entitled, “Managing Aortic Disease: The Health System Perspective.”

As Chairman of the Conference, Dr. Grayson Wheatley will give the welcome and opening remarks and will also serve as a presenter.  Dr. Wheatley is an internationally-recognized leader in aortic surgery and endovascular therapies.

“I am pleased to be the Chairman of this exciting event,” says Dr. Wheatley.  “The Symposium will bring together physicians, nurse practitioners, physician assistants, nurses, radiology technicians and cath lab personnel representing multiple specialties from across the Mid-Atlantic region to learn about the latest techniques and tools available for the management and treatment of aortic disease.”

Dr. Wheatley’s clinical and research interests include aortic and endovascular surgery; transcatheter valve replacement; minimally invasive cardiovascular surgery; physician education and training; innovative aortic therapies and endovascular technologies; and new techniques, quality and safety in endovascular interventions. His current research focuses on aortic stent-graft devices, investigations of autologous bone marrow cells in chronic limb ischemia, and embolic protection systems.
