The SNFCC Christmas World comes to life at 7 PM (local time) on Friday, December 1, enveloping the entire city in the festive spirit of Christmas. ERT World will broadcast live the special event on Friday 1 December 2023, at 19:00 (Athens time).

The grand celebration, hosted by Nandia Kontogeorgi, initiates the Christmas festivities. With 80 plane trees illuminating the Canal and the Festival of Light Installations adorning Stavros Niarchos Park, Athens transforms into the ultimate Christmas destination. The scene is enhanced by the Ice Rink at the Canal, offering an upscale venue for skating, while the Fountains add color and imagination to the Christmas experience.

Traditionally, the Agora serves as the gathering spot, featuring the children’s choir of El Sistema Greece, setting the evening’s mood with traditional carols from around the globe. Following this, Mwenso and the Shakes, hailing from Harlem, New York City, will captivate the audience with a unique Christmas performance titled ‘Afrofuturistic Christmas Wonderland.’ This vibrant musical showcase will feature beloved classics like ‘Santa Claus Is Coming to Town,’ ‘Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas,’ ‘Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer,’ ‘Winter Wonderland,’ and ‘Silent Night’.

This is a festive concert held in collaboration with the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts in New York as part of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation-Lincoln Center Agora Initiative. It’s an

effort to redefine public spaces, including the “Twin Agoras” at the SNFCC and the Lincoln Center and will be broadcast from the foyer of the David Geffen Hall at the Lincoln Center.
