St. George Greek Orthodox Church in Hamilton, NJ, held its annual festival Thursday, May 14th through Sunday, May 17th. A big year for St. George, as this year’s festival marked its 40th anniversary. The atmosphere was vibrant as visitors were pouring in, ready to be Greek for a couple of hours. The festival featured live Greek music, Greek folk dancing, authentic Greek food and wine, homemade pastries, gift shops and church tours. Organized by its exceptional Parish Council, Ladies of Philoptochos and volunteers, the 40th festival anniversary was an exciting success. A tremendous group effort indeed as everyone pitched in to make the festival a Grecian sensation. Joanne Kakoyiannis, Philoptochos President and Athanasios Ginis, Parish Council President, were co-chairs of the festival and Hope Armenti managed all of the baking preparations that took months in advance to organize. The Ladies of Philoptochos were responsible for cooking all the food, Martha Taweel organized all the vendors, Dr. Emily Spireas was in charge of the door entrance, Pete Revenidis and Dimitri Arapakis organized the delicious gyro stand and Asteris Fanikos was in charge of general rea/youth advisor. Congratulations to everyone for all their hard work and tireless efforts on putting together a delightful 40th festival celebration!
