Bulgaria and Romania requested and obtained access to the DESFA Liquefied Natural Gas Station in Revythousa in the midst of the war in Ukraine and the energy crisis, Environment and Energy Ministry sources said on Friday, following the visit by European Commissioner for energy, Kadri Simson, to Revythousa and her statements according to which “Greece, with its existing and planned infrastructure, plays a key role in security of the EU gas supply.”

The unloading of 142,500 cubic meters of liquefied natural gas is already scheduled for May on behalf of MET Energy, which operates in Bulgaria.

During the visit, Environment and Energy Minister Kostas Skrekas presented to the Commissioner the plan for ensuring the security of the energy supply in the case of an interruption of the gas supply from Russia, which includes the expansion of the storage capacity of the Revythousa station with the addition of a floating tank.
