NEW ORLEANS (January 25, 2016) – Barbara Stavis Wolf, has been elected the 2016 President of the Parish Council for Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral New Orleans. The election of Ms. Stavis Wolf as President, marks the first time a woman has served as President of this Church Community.
The Cathedral celebrated its 150th Anniversary in 2014 and is the first Greek Orthodox Church founded in North and South America. Ms. Stavis is a life-long member of Holy Trinity, has served previously as Secretary on the Parish Council, was co-chairman of the 150th Anniversary Celebration, Clergy-Laity Album Chairman, Exhibit Chairman, GOYA Youth Advisor, Choir organist and numerous other capacities at Holy Trinity. Ms. Stavis Wolf has been the Grand President of the Daughters of Penelope, an international non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of Hellenism, educational, philanthropic and cultural activities, and served several years as the local Chapter President.
Ms. Stavis Wolf is an insurance defense litigation attorney who is a member of the Louisiana State Bar Association, Louisiana Association of Defense Counsel, Louisiana Bar Foundation, American Bar Association and served as a member of the Louisiana Bar Association House of Delegates. She is lifetime resident of the New Orleans area, having graduated from Abramson High School in New Orleans, Newcomb College of Tulane University, and Loyola Law School of New Orleans.
