Our winter dream is to spend time on a Greek island. The people of Tripolis, Peloponnese, do not need to travel to expensive islands to enjoy this experience. For under 30 euros per person, a local travel agency offers a trip to the offshore island of Elafonisos.
One summer, we enjoyed a comfortable, air-conditioned bus ride along the southeastern coast of Laconia, Peloponnese, to the port of Pounta, followed by a short ferry ride. Kapogiannis Travel Agency, with guide Kostoula Kapogiannis, made the trip relaxing and enjoyable.
What Is Elafonisos? Elafonisos is a small Greek island located between the Peloponnese and Kythira. Its name means “Island of the Deer.” It is the largest inhabited island in the Peloponnese archipelago. Sandy beaches, good food and no stress was our stay at this Greek island.
Our bus took us on a gentle tour of the island, passing beaches and clear blue waters along the way.
We were left near Small Simos beach to swim. Our stop was Cervi, a cocktail bar and restaurant by the shore. They had an outdoor shower and a dressing room. The food was great. I wanted only rice with lemon. They made it special for me. The staff that included : Nefeli, Agyros, Spyros, Marianna, Antonia, Marie, Elena, Panagiotis, Victoria and Thothoro were exceptional in making Cervi run smoothly. Pleasant and hospitable, In 100 degree weather, we had dry air that was comfortable. A family with children was swimming, giving us a feeling of warmth and family living. Cervi is the restaurant to visit and swim at Small Simos beach. Visit this friendly island that does no have the stress of travelling to popular islands.
