New York, NY — During the historic visit of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine at Ground Zero, Archon Peter and Vicky Palivos made a deeply meaningful donation, two sacred gifts offered in honor of the Ecumenical Patriarch and the Shrine’s enduring mission of faith, hope, and renewal.
A highlight of the doxology service was the presentation of a Reliquary Case, designed to permanently safeguard the sacred relics of St. Nicholas for future generations. The accompanying Hierarchical Vestments, described as “theology in fabric,” symbolize the glory of Christ’s Resurrection and the eternal hope of immortality.
These gifts, presented during the Apostolic Visit of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, were received with deep gratitude. His All-Holiness personally thanked the Palivos family for their devotion, generosity, and unwavering love for the Church, recognizing their offering as a living testament to resurrection, renewal, and the enduring faith of the Orthodox community.
“We are truly honored to have been able to contribute to the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine,” said Peter and Vicky Palivos. “It fills our hearts with gratitude to know these offerings will remain as part of this sacred and historic landmark. We extend our heartfelt thanks to Father Andreas for giving us this opportunity to serve the Shrine, the Ecumenical Patriarchate, and our faith.”
The Palivos family’s philanthropic contribution reflects their steadfast commitment to faith, heritage, and community, values that continue to inspire generations of Greek Orthodox faithful in America and worldwide. Their gifts will forever remain part of the Shrine’s sacred legacy, reinforcing its mission as a beacon of light at Ground Zero, symbolizing faith’s triumph over tragedy.
“May St. Nicholas Shrine continue to shine as a beacon of faith, hope, and love for generations to come,” added Peter and Vicky Palivos.
Located at the World Trade Center, the St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine stands as a global symbol of peace, healing, and the unbreakable spirit of Hellenism and Orthodoxy. Through the generosity of faithful benefactors like Peter and Vicky Palivos, the Shrine continues to inspire millions as a house of prayer, remembrance, and resilience.
