The “dilemma in the next national elections is not ‘Mitsotakis or chaos’ but ‘democratic overthrow’ or ‘tolerance of regime and injustice!’,” said PASOK-KINAL Nikos Androulakis on Wednesday, speaking at the 86th Thessaloniki International Fair (TIF).
Adressing party supporters at HELEXPO’s ‘Ioannis Vellidis’ Congress Centre, he said that both PM Mitsotakis and SYRIZA leader Alexis Tsipras are “very similar in their position on Pasok,” and accused them of cynicism and shamelessness: “they are so much alike. They are able to act and say the same – but also the exact opposite without any shame. Because they have a common passion. The passion for power.”
Referring to the state-approved tracking of his mobile phone by the National Intelligence Agency (EYP), Androulakis said that his surveillance file “was destroyed so that there would be no evidence of an attempt to hold PASOK hostage.”
On Turkey, he said that the neighboring country’s “European perspective is a chimera,” calling on the Greek government to make a leading contribution to the new architecture of EU-Turkey relations.
Mentioning an “arms embargo on Turkey,” he said that “it does not make sense for European countries, our partners, to continue arming Turkey. Also, after the Cypriot elections, the dialogue for the resolution of the Cyprus issue should begin on the basis of International Law and the resolutions of the UN Security Council.”
“We have a responsibility to embrace the daily stresses of Greek people. To turn to hope the despair that injustice gives rise to,” he noted.
