The Greek annual inflation rate rose to 12% in September, up from 11.4% in August and 11.6% in July, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Monday. More specifically, the consumer price index rose 2.9% in September compared with August, after a 2.4% increase recorded in the same period last year. The average consumer price index in the October 2021-September 2022 period rose 8.7%.
The biggest percentage increase was recorded by natural gas (332%), followed by air transport (58.7%), electricity (30.5%), hotels (25.8%), dairy-eggs (23.3%), coffee (14.3%), fuel (17.7%), etc. The increase in the consumer price index in September, in comparison with the same month last year, reflected increases in the food/beverage group (13.5%), alcohol/tobacco (2.0%), clothing-footwear (3.5%), housing (35.4%) and durable goods (9.3%).
