Washington, DC – In a historic and symbolic meeting, the Ambassador of Greece to the United States, Ekaterini Nassika, met with the two newly sworn-in Greek-American Members of Congress, Congresswoman Maggie Tamposi Goodlander (D-NH) and Congressman Mike Haridopoulos (R-FL), just days after they assumed office.
Both Representatives welcomed Ambassador Nassika to their offices as the very first Ambassador they have met with since joining the U.S. Congress. This meeting underscores the close ties and shared heritage between Greece and the United States, as well as the growing influence of Greek Americans in public service.

Adding a personal connection to this meeting, it was revealed that Congresswoman Goodlander and Ambassador Nassika’s families both hail from the same village in Greece—Avdella, nestled in the Pindos mountains. Meanwhile, Congressman Haridopoulos carries his heritage proudly, with his father born in Athens, Greece.
Ambassador Nassika congratulated both lawmakers on their recent elections, expressing pride in their achievements and emphasizing the importance of their roles in strengthening Greek-American relations. The meeting served as a testament to the shared values and cultural bonds that unite Greece and the United States.
As the Greek-American community celebrates the accomplishments of these two representatives, the Hellenic News of America will continue to highlight their contributions to fostering strong ties between the two nations.
