Saint Sophia School Honors Greek Independence Day with Week-Long Celebration of Hellenic Culture and Student Performance
Salt Lake City, UT – In a spirited tribute to Greek Independence Day, Saint Sophia School hosted a week-long celebration highlighting the richness of Greek heritage, Orthodox faith, and national pride. Located in Salt Lake City, Utah, the Greek-American school brought students, faculty, and the wider community together through immersive cultural presentations and a moving student performance.
The celebration, which culminated on Friday, March 28, honored the traditions of Greece and the sacrifices of the Greek people in their struggle for independence. Over 200 guests, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and friends, gathered to watch students recite poetry, sing patriotic songs, and perform traditional Greek dances.

The highlight of the week was a school-wide program organized by the faculty and coordinated by Director Martha Jackson. The program featured students from all grades performing for a full house, reinforcing the school’s commitment to cultural preservation and community engagement.

Celebrating its 27th anniversary, Saint Sophia School continues to be a pillar of faith-based education in the Salt Lake City Greek-American community. The school blends academic excellence with the preservation of Greek language, culture, and Orthodox Christian values.
