Old Bridge, NJ – April 8, 2025 – The 34th Annual Hermes Expo is excited to announce that Justine Frangouli-Argyris, a distinguished Greek author, journalist, and advocate, will be honored with the ATHENA Award at the upcoming Awards Dinner and Gala on June 25, 2025, at the Grand Marquis in Old Bridge, New Jersey. The ATHENA Award, a symbol of leadership and empowerment, will recognize Justine’s outstanding contributions to both the Greek-American and Canadian communities, her efforts in advancing women’s rights, and her dedication to preserving Greek heritage.
With a career spanning over four decades, Justine Frangouli-Argyris has made an indelible mark as a journalist, author, and community leader. A native of Lefkada, Greece, Justine’s work has resonated both in Greece and abroad, particularly within the Greek diaspora. Since 1983, she has contributed extensively to daily newspapers, radio, television, and magazines. Justine’s writing, which includes 18 novels and biographies, often focuses on real-life stories and the experiences of Greek immigrants, shedding light on the challenges and triumphs of the community.
As the President of the Lyceum of Greek Women of Montreal, Justine has been instrumental in empowering women within the Greek diaspora. Under her leadership, the Lyceum has supported countless initiatives, including the “DOvEEgene” project, a groundbreaking effort to develop molecular tests for the early detection of ovarian and endometrial cancers. In addition to her work with the Lyceum, Justine has been a driving force behind cultural preservation, including the creation of the Statue of the Greek Immigrant, a landmark monument dedicated to Greek immigrants in Quebec.
Her dedication to preserving Greek heritage, advocating for women’s health, and promoting the visibility of the Greek community has earned her numerous prestigious awards. These include the “Hellene of the Year” distinction from the Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal, the Queen Elizabeth II Platinum Jubilee Medal, and the King Charles III Coronation Medal, further solidifying her legacy as a leader who continuously strives to elevate the Greek diaspora.
