The Hellenic Cultural Center of New York City proudly presents The Unconquered Spirit: Greece’s Pivotal Role in World War II, an immersive cultural, musical, and educational event honoring the courage and resilience of the Greek people during one of history’s most defining moments.
This multimedia presentation and live performance will bring to life Greece’s extraordinary contributions to World War II, from the defense of the Metaxas Line and the counteroffensive against the Italian invasion, to the unbreakable Greek resistance that inspired nations during the triple occupation.
The program will be led by Dr. Evangelos Athanasopoulos, who will guide the audience through an interactive historical journey. The experience will be enhanced by the soulful voice of Grigoris Maninakis, guest singer Aggeliki Psoni, and the musical artistry of Glafkos Kontemeniotis on piano and Kostas Psarros on bouzouki, creating a powerful tribute to the heroism, sacrifice, and unity of the Hellenic spirit.
This special event invites attendees to reflect on the legacy of Greece’s Oxi Day, the meaning of freedom and courage, and the enduring influence of Hellenic values in shaping world history. Perfect for families, students, and community members, it offers an inspiring way to reconnect with Greek history through music, storytelling, and cultural pride.
