Greek retail sales turnover grew 11.9%, or 5.75 billion euros, in 2021 totaling 54.15 billion euros, from 48.40 billion in 2020, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Wednesday.
More specifically, sales by watch and jewelry shops were up 47.5% and clothing rose 43.4% in 2021, while the top five sectors with the biggest share in annual turnover were: food/beverages (28.6%), fuel (12.1%), car sales (9.3%), pharmaceuticals (7.3%) and clothing (4.8%).
In the fourth quarter of 2021, retail sales turnover was 15.12 billion euros, up 18.4% from the same period in 2020 and up 3.4% from the third quarter of 2021.
