The Greek Foreign Affairs Ministry expressed its condolences over the deaths and injuries of dozens of people at a stampede in a religious shrine in Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday, New Year’s Day.
“Deeply saddened by the tragic loss of lives at a religious shrine in Jammu and Kashmir. Our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families & our deepest sympathies to the government & people of India,” the ministry said in a tweet.
The event happened at the Mata Vaishno Devi shrine, a landmark Hindu worshipping site in India, as pilgrims gathered for traditional prayers on New Year’s Day.
