—There are still seats available for the fall 2016 Associate in Applied Science Respiratory Therapy degree at Delaware County Community College for those who meet the program requirements by July. Offered in partnership with Crozer Chester Medical Center, the program teaches students how to deliver safe, effective respiratory care in a variety of settings. The College is hosting two, upcoming information sessions for those interested in learning more.

Prospective students are invited to attend one of the following free information sessions being held at the Marple Campus (901 S. Media Line Road, Media, PA) to learn more about this exciting program:

  • Tuesday, May 3 at 6 p.m. in the Academic Building (Room 4255)
  • Thursday, June 9 at 11 a.m. in the Academic Building (Room 4255)

Respiratory therapists care for patients who have difficulty breathing and often work in emergency settings, aiding patients suffering from heart attacks, drowning or shock. According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, respiratory therapists make a median salary of $56,730 per year and the job outlook is growing faster than average.

Upon completion of the associate degree, successful students are eligible to take the two exams required to earn the Registered Respiratory Therapist credential. Once credentialed, students can find employment. Local employers include Crozer, Main Line Health, the University of Pennsylvania Health System, Mercy Suburban Hospital and others.
