THE ATHENIAN SOCIETY OF NY IS READY
FOR ANOTHER CREATIVE YEAR

New York, NY—Members of the Athenian society of New York and their friends gather at Stamatis Restaurant in Astoria on Sunday January 12th, 2014 to cut the traditional “Vasilopita”. The President of the Athenian Society of NY, Mr. Panos Adamopoulos thanked everyone for coming and on behalf of the entire board wished everyone a healthy and creative new year for the society as well as the entirety of Hellenism.
Amongst other participants to the event: second to the General Consul of Greece to NY, Mr. Manos Koumbarakis, former President of the Athenian Society Mr. Elias Neofotistos, former President of the Ionian Federation Mr. Nikos Bardis, former President of the Epirus Federation Mr. Christos Kousovitsas, former Presidents of the Greek Teachers Association Mr. Timoleon Kokkinos as well as many other prominent members and friends of the society.
Members of the society took the time to acknowledge the society’s secretary Ms. Athina Lazarides as well as prominent members Mr. and Mrs. Andreas and Vana Koutomerkos. The historic Athenian society was founded in Manhattan in 1920. Ninety four years later the Athenian Society is continuing with its contributions to the Greek American community on all levels: educational, cultural, social and philanthropic. The society has also been helping Greece by sending food to the Children’s hospital in Athens.
The Board of the Athenian Society is working hard in order to achieve the goals and they high standards that have been set. The Board is wishing everyone, here and in Greece, a healthy and happy New Year on a personal and professional level. We should also mention that Serafim Lazos, well know musician within the Greek-American community provided the entertainment of this beautiful event.
