The use of the Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) installation in Revythousa is expected to reach record levels in June, according to DESFA’s planning. Already, the use of the infrastructure is at a high level as Greek and Bulgarian companies turn to LNG shipments to replace the Russian gas that was cut off in Bulgaria, or as security against possible supply interruptions in the future.

The current planning foresees the arrival of 11 shipments of LNG from the companies Elpedison, MORE, MET Energy, DEPA and Mytilineos during the next month. These correspond to a total of 4.3 terawatt hours (TWh), which is a new record: according to the data provided by DEPA during the consultation for the addition of a floating tank in Revythousa, the previous record was in January 2020 when LNG shipments equivalent to 4.2 TWh were unloaded at Revythousa LNG Terminal.

Comparatively, during the first quarter of 2021, 5.43 TWh of LNG were unloaded in Revythousa and 9 TWh in the corresponding period this year. This means that quantities approaching those of the first quarter of 2021 were moved via Revythousa in one month.
