Two concerts featuring works by composer Mikis Theodorakis for the promotion of modern Greek culture took place on December 12 and 13 in Stockholm and Gothenburg, Sweden, respectively, with the Greek National Tourist Organisation (GNTO) as a major sponsor, according to an announcement on Monday.
The concerts were organised by Medelhavets Produktion & Events at the Göta Lejon Theater in the Swedish capital (1,100 seats) and at the Lisebergs Teatern in Gothenburg (510 seats), as part of the celebration of the 200th anniversary of the Greek Revolution. The Mikis Theodorakis Orchestra and the artists Dimitris Bassis and Rita Antonopoulou participated. The members of the delegation were accompanied by the composer’s daughter, Margarita Theodoraki.
The event was attended by, among others, the family of Olof Palme, the Bulgarian Ambassador to Sweden, the Italian embassy’s representative, the Swedish Parliament’s international affairs adviser, and high-ranking officials of the Swedish tourism organisations and media.
