DEERFIELD, IL – The Loukoumi Make A Difference Foundation united with the Hellenic American Academy (HAA) in Deerfield, to make a difference on their Good Deed Bus Tour, Tuesday, October 22. The Good Deed bus tour began at the Hellenic American Academy where students and their families made caring cards and collected donations for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital treatment room and literacy program.

The next stop on the Good Deed Tour was Bernie’s Book Bank in Lake Bluff, where students sorted and packaged over 7,500 books for at risk children in the Chicagoland area. Students also presented a donation of $5,000 to Bernie’s Book Bank which was made by the Demetra and Eric Vassilatos Foundation in honor of HAA’s student’s efforts to make a positive difference in their community. The Demetra and Eric Vassilatos Foundation value the importance of reading. “The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.” – Dr. Suess
The final stop of the day was to The Greek American Rehabilitation & Care Center located in Wheeling. Students took the time to visit with residents, read stories in both Greek and English and present donations they collected to help brighten their day.
