A relief fund is now initiated to help islanders .” Farmland is destroyed by this storm phenomenon that has devastated northeastern Aegean islands. Farmland destroyed.
“Authorities on the Greek islands Rhodes and Lemnos declared a state of emergency. Rescue teams, assisted by the military and local authorities, rescued many older residents in flood-hit areas, after strong winds and torrential rain caused power outages and damaged roads. Two men were killed in a flooded village on Lemnos, while scores of people were evacuated and taken to hotels in the island’s main port.”1
My father‘s family is from the town of Panagia,7 miles from the coast of Asia Minor, Türkiye. I contacted Cousin Kaiti Tsouni. She directed me to the Facebook page of Victoria Epitropaki who graphic photographs of damaged buildings and roads. Nothing was really mentioned in mainstream media Greek or English. Greece farmlands have been devastated by drought and now flooding in Aegean Islands. Summer of 2025 will see a rise in food prices and restaurant menus, not including a new mandatory Etias passport to enter Europe. The 2025 European traveler must be prepare.
