Tell us about the Hermes Expo International. When and how did it start? What challenges did you face, how did it evolve, and what is its future in the exhibition industry?
Hermes Expo International was founded in 1992 with the goal of creating a dynamic platform connecting businesses, professionals, and organizations from the Greek-American community, Greece, and other countries. The aim was to offer Greek entrepreneurs and professionals the opportunity to enter the U.S. market while also fostering connections within the Greek diaspora through business, cultural cooperation, and globalization.
There were numerous challenges. In the beginning, it was a challenge to convince businesses that the Hermes Expo could serve as a bridge for collaboration. I had to build a network, earn trust, and overcome geographical and cultural barriers. Despite this, the Expo has become a well-established institution, with annual exhibitions hosting hundreds of participants and visitors. It has also expanded to include thematic events, such as conferences, cultural activities, and culinary presentations.
The future of Hermes Expo looks bright. We aim to strengthen our presence, expand into more cities across the U.S., and continue to be the “launchpad” for Greek and Greek-American businesses looking to grow in the international market.
You signed a partnership with Helexpo TIF. Can you describe the goals and purposes of this commercial collaboration?
Our partnership with Helexpo TIF is a significant milestone. Our goal is to combine our strengths to promote Greek entrepreneurship in the U.S. Through this collaboration, we are creating new opportunities for Greek exhibitors to present their products and services to an international audience.
We focus on key sectors, such as agrifood, tourism, technology, and services. Helexpo TIF brings its experience and expertise from Greece’s largest exhibition, while Hermes Expo provides access to the Greek-American and Greek-friendly network, creating bridges of collaboration that will benefit both sides.
