Children are the heart of Christmas in the USA. There’s no substitute for their joy and spirit. Their caroling embodies the true essence of the season. On Wednesday evening, December 18, 2024, a Christmas carols concert was hosted at Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cathedral in New York City. His Eminence, Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, presided over the event. Students from preschool through 8th grade performed bilingual Christmas carols in both English and Greek, spreading festive cheer. The Cathedral school’s principal, Mrs. Merope Kyriakos, and the Artistic/Music Director, Theodore Alvanos, played key roles in organizing this memorable celebration.
“Our children are the face of heaven,” said Archbishop Elpidophoros. “We praise God for our children. I am excited to be hearing our angels sing in my church, the Holy Trinity Cathedral and my Cathedral school that is a large part of the church. Our children are like a celestial choir .” The children of the Cathedral school presented his Eminence with a today. Today we saw another image of the religious leader: the spiritual love of a father for his community’s children.

The Archdiocesan School of the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity is at 319–337 East 74th Street on the Upper East Side of Manhattan in New York City. The school is part of the national cathedral of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, and the episcopal seat of Archbishop Elpidophoros of America.

The Cathedral School was originally established to serve Greek families. It has evolved into an educational institution that embraces diversity. The school has a broader mission of promoting Hellenism that instills creativity and academic excellence among its graduates. They carry the values and cultural heritage, guiding them throughout their lives.
