The Greek tourism has a high performance and the up to date data are showing that 2024 ended as the new year of reference, namely over the levels of 2023, Deputy Tourism Minister Elena Rapti said in an interview with Athens-Macedonian News Agency on Sunday.
“In 2024, tourism in our country not only strengthened its momentum but confirmed – for one more year – the strong position of Greece among the top travel destinations, worldwide” underlined Rapti and adding that “the messages that we receive for 2025 are very encouraging”.
The Deputy Minister refers to the directions of the new “Tourism for All” noting that it presents specific changes, which are aimed both at extending the tourist season and at even greater motivation of citizens to participate in the lottery. “Via this year’s program, we have chosen to promote the mountainous and less popular areas, in order to give a boost to the local economy and strengthen sustainability, while at the same time supporting Greek tourism professionals” noted Rapti.
Focusing on tourism education, she analysed the actions of the ministry and underlined that “upgrading tourism education and training is our main strategic goal, which we implement through interventions, so that the services provided to students are consistent with the overall quality upgrade of our tourism product and Greece’s reputation as a global tourism brand”.
At the same time, Rapti referred to the development of special forms of tourism noting that “they are an important tool for extending the tourist season and for this reason, through the Recovery and Resilience Fund, whose resources we use in the best possible way, we invest in their development and promotion”. As she stated “with funding of 99.2 million euros, we are investing in mountain, diving and sea tourism, health and wellness tourism, agro tourism and culinary tourism, while through the National Action Plan for Tourism we are promoting additional alternative forms of tourism”.
