Santorini remains one of the top tourist destinations in the world, Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni said on Monday on the island, “and despite its recent seismic activity, it is gradually returning to normalcy and preparing for a dynamic tourism period.”
She was speaking at an extended meeting coordinated by Thera Mayor Nikos Zorzos hat included MPs of the Cycladic Islands, representatives of the South Aegean Region, and representatives of tourism agencies and of local society.
The state is taking the necessary measures for residents’, visitors’ and professionals’ safety, the minister underlined, while infrastructure is strengthened and civil protection plans are being updated.
In addition, Kefalogianni noted that international market indicators show that interest in Santorini remains high and the tourism period of 2025 will remain at high levels with correct management. “We are not simply returning, we are moving ahead,” she said.
