The Greek-American and Northern Virginia business communities are mourning the loss of Demetrios “Dimitri” Boosalis, a visionary entrepreneur, beloved family man, and passionate community leader. Boosalis passed away peacefully on May 7, 2025, at the age of 83, surrounded by his loving family.

Born on October 12, 1941, in Niata, Lakonia, Greece, Dimitri arrived in the United States at age 17 with $20, limited English, and only a sixth-grade education. Through grit, faith, and an unrelenting drive to succeed, he built Boosalis Properties, one of the most respected independent commercial real estate firms in Prince William County.
Dimitri’s entrepreneurial journey began in the restaurant industry, founding several local favorites including Georgetown Station, Demetri’s Restaurant, Hector’s, Chicken Fantastic, and Colonial Café. These establishments not only fed the community, they became gathering spaces where friendships were formed and futures were built.
His impact extended beyond business. In the 2010s, Dimitri worked tirelessly to protect dozens of small businesses during the Route 1 and Occoquan Road expansion, rallying over 10,000 signatures and working with VDOT to safeguard livelihoods, an effort he led quietly, without seeking credit.

In addition to his business success, Dimitri was a pillar of the Greek-American community, a devout Orthodox Christian, and a generous philanthropist. He championed faith, heritage, and education, while always putting family first. He often said his greatest achievement was marrying his beloved wife of 51 years, Loula Boosalis.
He is survived by his wife Loula; daughter Eleni Boosalis Jossan and son-in-law Subir Jossan; son George Boosalis and daughter-in-law Kalomira Boosalis; and six cherished grandchildren: Neeri, Nicholas, Zoe, Demetri, Niko, and Anastasia.

Among his final projects was the early development of Riverside Crossing, a transformative vision to revitalize Woodbridge, Virginia. Though still in planning, it reflects his enduring commitment to building a better future for generations to come.
Demetrios “Dimitri” Boosalis leaves behind a legacy of leadership, love, and unwavering dedication to family, faith, and community. His life touched thousands, and his spirit will continue to guide and inspire.
May His Memory Be Eternal.
