Congressman Gus Bilirakis is pushing forward two major legislative priorities aimed at strengthening protections for vulnerable populations, increasing government transparency, and ensuring accountability in high-profile criminal cases.
This week, Bilirakis—long recognized for his bipartisan work on child protection and victims’ rights—announced new progress on two fronts: the release of the Epstein files and renewed momentum behind the Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA).
Demanding Full Transparency in the Epstein Case
Bilirakis reaffirmed his support for full public disclosure of the Epstein files, emphasizing that no individual—regardless of wealth, influence, or political standing—should ever be shielded from responsibility. The legislation he backed would ensure that all related documents are released to the public, with only the names of victims who request privacy being redacted.
“The American people deserve the truth, and survivors deserve justice,” Bilirakis said, underscoring his commitment to accountability.
The Congressman recently met with a group of Epstein survivors and noted that their testimonies reinforced the urgent need for transparency and closure.
Reintroducing the Kids Online Safety Act
Bilirakis also took key steps toward reintroducing the bipartisan Kids Online Safety Act (KOSA), legislation he has championed for several years.
The bill aims to create safer digital environments for minors by placing stronger responsibilities on social media platforms and online service providers.
Under KOSA, tech platforms would be required to:
- Implement default safety settings for minors
- Provide parents with improved tools to supervise online activity
- Limit exposure to harmful or age-inappropriate content
- Prioritize the digital well-being and mental health of young users
With concerns about youth mental health rising nationwide, Bilirakis stressed that families need modern tools to keep children safe in an increasingly complex digital landscape.
