OLD BRIDGE, NJ — Hermes Expo International will recognize The Honorable Mariyana T. Spyropoulos, Clerk of the Circuit Court of Cook County, with the Public Service Award at its 35th Anniversary Awards Dinner and Celebration, taking place on Wednesday, April 29, 2026, at the Grand Marquis in Old Bridge, New Jersey.
Hermes Expo International is proud to present the Public Service Award to Mariyana T. Spyropoulos in recognition of her distinguished leadership, steadfast commitment to transparency and accessibility in government, and her dedicated service to diverse and underserved communities.
As Clerk of the Circuit Court, Spyropoulos has worked to ensure that the justice system remains transparent, accessible, and accountable to all. Since taking office in December 2024, she has expanded language access through real-time interpretation and multilingual tools, enhanced public transparency with a new data dashboard, and modernized services through an improved Online Records Center. Her initiatives, including Amnesty Week and the Second Chance Summit, have helped thousands of residents resolve legal matters and connect with employment and community resources.
A former Cook County Assistant State’s Attorney, Spyropoulos has built a distinguished career in public service. She previously served as a commissioner of the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, where she was first elected in 2010 and re-elected in 2016 and 2022, serving as Board President from 2015 to 2019. During her tenure, she advanced environmental innovation, transparency, and fiscal responsibility, while maintaining the district’s AAA bond rating.
The daughter of immigrants, Spyropoulos remains dedicated to advocating for diverse and underserved communities. She holds a law degree from the University of Illinois at Chicago and an MBA from Loyola University Chicago.
