Socials are a time to rekindle old friendships in a family setting of all ages. The traditional Greek Orthodox Easter social is a time of happiness that accomplishes: strengthening bonds of fellowship in the Greek Orthodox faith, culture and Greek language. Prominent persons of the clergy, business, education and political community attended the May 17th Easter Block Party of the Geros Tou Morea chapter of the Pan Arcadian Federation of America. Police barricades closed the Center’s street. The society is located at lines closing the street. The society is located at 27-02 39th Avenue in Long Island City, NY.
Erini Tsiaris sang traditional Greek songs that echoed throughout Long Island City. She was accompanied by instrumentalists Mpampis Sampelidis and Yiannis Staikos. Greek cuisine was served. I had the pleasure of seeing Apostoli Zoupaniotis, the retired publisher of the former Greek News and international journalist. 80 degree, sunny weather made this social event to remember.
