Building materials’ prices rose 7.1% in December 2021 compared with the same month in 2020, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Tuesday. More specifically, prices rose in electricity (44.9%), diesel oil (27.7%), iron (19.3%), steel pipes (16.9%), radiators (8.6%), plastic pipes (8.6%), bricks (7%), aluminium doors (4.7%), interior doors (4%), cement (3.6%) and wooden windows (3.1%).
The statistics service said that the new home building materials’ price index rose 7.1% in December after a 0.2% decline recorded in the same months in 2020/2019. The index rose 0.4% in December from November 2021, while the average index rose 3.8% in the 12-month period from January to December 2021.
