Greek trade deficit grew by 52.8% in October as the value of imports surpassed than of exports in the month, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Wednesday.
The value of imports totaled 5.869 billion euros in October, up 42.1% from the same month last year (excluding oil products imports grew 17.9%, while excluding oil products and ships imports rose 18.1%). The value of exports totaled 3.708 billion euros, up 36.65 from October 2020 (excluding oil products exports rose 15.8%, while excluding oil products and ships exports were up 16.3%).
The trade deficit jumped 52.8% to 2.160 billion euros in October (excluding oil products the deficit was up 21.7%, while excluding oil products and ships the deficit rose 21.1%).
In the 10-month period from January to October, imports totaled 51.243 billion euros, up 27% from 2020 (excluding oil products imports rose 18.1%, while excluding oil products and ships imports rose 18.3%).
Exports totaled 32.402 billion euros in the 10-month period, up 29% from the same period last year (excluding oil products exports rose 19%, while excluding oil products and ships exports were up 19%).
The trade deficit was 18.841 billion euros in the January-October period, up 23.8% from the same period last year (excluding oil products the deficit was up 16.8%, while excluding oil products and ships the deficit rose 17.2%).
