By: Markos Papadatos

Greek-Australian singer Vassy chatted with Markos Papadatos about her new single “We Are Young,” being a part of the “Frozen” soundtrack, and her album.

Vassy released her full-length studio album We Are Young via Peace Biquit on her own label, Kiss My Vassy Records, on January 15, 2015 on iTunes. “It went well. It consisted of original songs that I had written and they had an indie kind of sound about them. They were different than the EDM and dance songs that I am known for. They are quirky, fun and upbeat. It has been really cool. They have had really good features and placements on television commercials and movies. It was a natural process putting them together,” she said.

Her single “We Are Young” was featured the soundtrack for the Disney movie

Frozen last year. “That was awesome,” she said. “The movie ended up winning an Oscar and I was honored to be part of an Oscar-winning film.”
Her new single, “Real Deal,” was featured in the Target “Hit The Switch” commercial. “It was cool that they had an interest in using the single. It is great when brands use your songs for anthems for their brands,” she said.

A chart-topping singer-songwriter, Vassy will be releasing her next single “Secrets,” which is a collaboration with world renowned DJ Tiesto & KSHMR on March 16. “It was cool that Tiesto fell in love with it and wanted to be a part of the project. It was great to hear that feedback from Tiesto himself,” she said.

Her double-platinum single “Bad,” featuring David Guetta and Showtek has reached over 260 million views on YouTube, proving that it was a true force to be reckoned with. “I was really excited about the success of ‘Bad.’ We have been nominated for two IDMA awards in the Winter Music Conference in Miami and we have gotten a great response from the crowd,” she said.
Vassy listed Bono from U2 as her dream male duet choice. “I would love to do a duet with Bono. That would be pretty awesome,” she said. Vassy complimented trance DJ and producer Armin van Buuren. “That would be cool too,” she added.
