Government spokesperson Pavlos Marinakis started Monday’s press briefing by referring to the announcement οf afternoon surgeries to be introduced in public hospitals.
Marinakis pointed out that “the morning surgeries are not in any way affected. They will function fully, as they have functioned until today. For this reason, it will be checked whether each clinic is performing the same number of surgeries as it did before the afternoon surgeries were introduced.
He clarified that 60 million euros will be used from the Recovery and Resilience Facility for the afternoon surgeries.
He also referred to the single surgeries’ list. More specifically, he emphasised that “lists of surgeries are used in all European health systems. The waiting time in European countries varies from country to country. In some countries, such as Sweden, the waiting time for non-urgent surgery is fifty days on average. Through the Single List of Surgeries, transparency, quality assurance, health assurance, accessibility, efficiency, care coordination are ensured.”
Marinakis made special metion of the electronic platform for registering in the postal voting lists, which went into operation on Monday. “With the legislation for postal voting, all practical obstacles to exercising the right to vote by Greeks who have the right to vote, wherever they are, are removed.”
The increase in the presence of the Hellenic Police in the neighborhoods, with the aim of increasing the security of the citizens, was the next issue that Marinakis addressed, stressing that it was one of the government’s main goals.
Regarding the critical issue of the farmers’ protests, the government spokesperson said that “tomorrow in Athens, there will be traffic measures that that the Hellenic Police Headquarters will announced in the next few hours.”
