Zurich – On August 30, Greek pole vaulter Katerina Stefanidi won the women’s pole vault competition at the IAAF Diamond League in Zurich.
Stefanidi won the women’s pole vault in Zurich with a new season best of 4.87 meters, which she cleared on her first attempt. She also cleared 4.82 meters on her first attempt.
Stefanidi also tried 4.92 meters three times with no success. American pole vaulter Sandi Morris came in second place with 4.82 meters, and Russian pole vaulter Anzhelika Sidorova finished in third place, also with 4.82 meters (on countback). Fellow American pole vaulter Katie Nageotte came in fourth place with 4.57 meters.
With this win in Zurich, Stefanidi claimed her third career Diamond League trophy. Earlier this month, on August 9, Stefanidi won the gold medal for Greece at the European Championships in Berlin. She is also the reigning world champion in the women’s pole vault.
