Brooklyn, NY — Senator Andrew Gounardes hosted a holiday lunch for veterans participating in two residential care programs at the Brooklyn VA Medical Center on Thursday afternoon. Organized through the Senator’s 3 for Community volunteer program, local businesses and the Senator’s office contributed pasta dishes, pizza, salad and more, rounded out by holiday cookies. A dozen volunteers from the community donated their time to serve the lunch.

“I was really pleased to be able to spend some time with our veterans this afternoon. These men and women have earned and deserve our respect and we need to remember and to act on that as often as we can,” said Senator Gounardes. “I appreciate the volunteers and local businesses coming together to bring that bit of holiday cheer to some vets who are away from their families receiving the care they need.”
