New York, March 7, 2018 – Ronald McDonald House New York (“the House”) today announced that Spiros Maliagros, President of TIG Advisors, has been named Chairman of the House’s Greek Division. Mr. Maliagros succeeds Michael Bapis, who had served as Chairman since 2014. His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America holds the position of Honorary Chairman.

As Chairman, Mr. Maliagros will lead the Greek Division’s strategy in the fulfillment of its mission. In existence for more than 38 years, the Greek Division has helped to provide a support system for House families from Greece, Cyprus and Greek Americans seeking treatment for pediatric cancer while in New York City. The support of the local Greek community within the tri-state area has been an integral part of the Division’s ability to provide the financial resources, as well as awareness, of the devastating effects of pediatric cancer.

“I am truly honored and privileged to assume the role as Chairman of the Ronald McDonald House New York Greek Division,” said Mr. Maliagros. “I look forward to supporting the charitable mission of such a special place and working with the entire Ronald McDonald House community, as we continue to strongly support the House’s mission and the children in need.”

“We are honored to have Mr. Maliagros’ leadership as the head of the House’s Greek Division, and we thank Mr. Bapis for his extraordinary leadership over the past four years,” said Ruth C. Browne, President & CEO of Ronald McDonald House New York. “Mr. Maliagros is a distinguished leader in the Greek community, and we are grateful to him for making this commitment to the Ronald McDonald House. As well, we are truly touched, honored and thankful for the incredible support the House has received from the Greek Division and the Greek Community for more than three decades.”

In 2014, Mr. Maliagros was named “Lawyer of the Year” by the Hellenic Lawyers Association. He currently serves on the Finance Committee of the Manhasset, New York School District.
