Tourism Minister Olga Kefalogianni, in statements to Greek correspondents and journalists at the World Travel Market (WTM) in London, where Greece was the honoured country, stated: “The year 2023, as we know, was a record year and from what the data has shown so far, 2024 will be the new record year for Greek tourism. Already from the contacts we have had with the British market and beyond, show that the pre-bookings for 2025 are going very well but Greece’s strategy aims at the qualitative development of tourism, at moderation and balance, at the protection of the natural and cultural environment, at a diffusion of visitors to all parts of the country”.
Greece had a strong presence in the exhibition taking place on November 5-7, as the Greek National Tourism Organisation (GNTO) pavilion hosted 81 co-exhibitors, as it was announced.
Kefalogianni inaugurated the exhibition and, while there, she signed a memorandum of cooperation with EasyJet and EasyJet Holidays, underlining Greece’s commitment to creating dynamic synergies with organisations that share a common vision and philosophy. This three-year strategic plan aims to deepen cooperation, promote mutual development and strengthen sustainable tourism development.
During the WTM, Kefalogianni met with the general director of British Airways Holidays Andrew Flintham and gave an interview on Greek tourism to BBC’s Business Today, to the radio station operated by the magazine “Monocle” with 600,000 listeners, as well as on Podcast Radio Business with 750,000 listeners in the UK and in USA.
