The President of the Hellenic Republic Katerina Sakellaropoulou sent a letter to Donald Trump, in which she expressed her warmest congratulations on his election as the next president of the United States of America, as well as her wishes for every success in his duties.
As Sakellaropoulou said, Greece and the US share the common ideals of democracy, freedom and respect for international law. The two nations are united by historical ties, which are further strengthened by the thriving Greek-American community and have acquired new dimensions in recent years, having evolved into a strategic relationship, to the mutual benefit of both countries.
Finally, the President of the Republic pointed out that, in the context of contemporary global challenges, she looked forward to close cooperation between the two countries in the coming years, with the aim of addressing issues of common interest.
